RL Coaching offers custom one-on-one coaching engagements for early stage and emerging leaders in business.
I have over 4 decades of experience in the sales and marketing arena. I've been focused in personally delivering and then leading teams that developed custom solutions for retailers, publishers, and international companies.
I was directly responsible for over $500 million in sales and managed teams that collectively sold over $5 billion.
If you must "measure before you can fix," you must identify the areas of improvement before you can coach. Every client completes a 360 feedback assessment the results of which direct the custom learning path for each employee.
I believe in customized, one-on-one coaching. There are common skills that we should all acquire but there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach. The core offering is a meet two - times - per - month, over 3 months, program that includes unlimited access to me throughout the 90 days.
Month one begins with completion of a 360-feedback instrument of the person being coached. These results level-set the issues and opportunities to be addressed in future coaching sessions.
Month two focuses on internal communication issues and ideation skills develop while month three focuses on external communication, brand development and marketing & sales skills.
Throughout my career much of my success came from answering this simple question: What problem am I helping the client solve? Applied to coaching the answer is that many employees need the advice, council and direction from an outside party to succeeded. There are simply issues that can best be addressed by an independent advisor that's why my motto is "brutally honest coaching tactfully delivered."
At the end of the 3 month engagement, the employer should expect the employee to be better prepared to meet the on-going challenges faced in the business environment, with emphasis on skill development in: negotiation, brand strategy, staff leadership and external customer communications.
On-going coaching conversations occur throughout the month.
The bedrock training that once came from industry leaders like Xerox, IBM and Kodak has ended. But core sales skills are still needed to be successful practitioners of the craft of selling.
Having a consistent company identity is critical in the age of social media. Creating a brand that accurately reflects your company's market position requires an
on-going effort.
Developing and implementing best practices is a key factor in long term success. It's a balancing act between "busy work" and effective business management.
Companies regularly report that recent grads show up to work with a skills deficit. Similarly, a younger employee who's success has put them on the promotion track may not have the necessary skills to succeed in their new assignment. These are the types of employees who can most benefit from personalized coaching.
Of course, if you have already identified a specific area for coaching for your employee I can work to develop a unique coaching solution.
Yes. My coaching can enhance the skills of executives at any stage of their careers. I also work with managements teams on issues like: Group Dynamics, Branding and Strategy Development.
Clear and honest feedback can be hard to communicate. It's often difficult to deliver and hard to receive the "gift of feedback" for family members. The value in using an outside coach is in the independent perspective and objectivity that can be provided.
"Rich helped me manage a successful job exit and transition into a new position. His style is direct but he's easy to work with and uses humor to smooth over the rough topics."
"I can honestly say I've never worked with a sales guy with such a high EQ. He coached for performance and development and the results spoke for themselves. His teams win."
"Rich was one of my first managers and he set the bar. He has coached, mentored and been a sounding board my whole career. His insight is spot on and he's a great listener. He helped get to the right answers. I try to follow his style now that I manage a team."
